FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP

Errol Champagne Scholarship  - $750
William Amante
The Errol Champagne Scholarship is an endowment scholarship that was begun in 1982.  Lion Errol, a Poquoson Lion member, was an active duty Air Force Officer that was on-board Air Florida Flight 90 that crashed on January 13th 1982 in Washington DC killing 74 of the 79 passengers and 4 individuals that were driving on the 14th Street Bridge at time of the crash.  The endowment was initiated by his wife Wynona as a perpetual scholarship in honor of her husbands’ memory.   This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior with an exemplary record of community service, balanced by academic excellence.  This scholarship has been awarded annually since 1982 and will continue until the endowment is depleted.

UNFUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS

Don Hirschberg Scholarship - $750
Corrin Jasinski

The Don Hirschberg Athletic Scholarship is awarded in honor of Lion Don Hirschberg. Lion Don was an active volunteer in the Community, coached youth baseball, and volunteered in his Church.  Lions GS Forrest, Lion Don Hirschberg’s father-in-law, initiated this scholarship to honor the memory of Lion Don and to provide a scholarship that recognized athletic excellence.  Although athletic excellence is the most important aspect of this scholarship, academic excellence is also a very important element.
